Construction workers break ground on new Boulder City housing development

Developers broke ground in Boulder City Wednesday on the largest housing development being built in 30 years.

Once all three phases are done, Boulder Hills Estates will house 127 homes.  The 31-acre plot of land is nestled in the hills above Lake Mead, just north of the city’s airport.

Overall, picturesque Boulder City is beloved by the 15,000 people who live in the small community.

“We love Boulder City,” said Caryn Gifford, a 30-year resident of Boulder City.

However, over the past two decades, Boulder City has grown by less than a thousand residents.  The lack of growth is due in large part to strict growth restrictions, which residents like Caryn Gifford see as a very fine line.
